Town Pond Declared Safe for Skating
Fire Department measures six inches of clear ice
By Maggie Thorne
The Fire Department measured six inches of clear ice on the town pond on Friday and declared it open for skating from the boathouse to the willows. The far end, where the brook comes in, stays roped off as always.
Chief Peter Lindqvist asks that skaters stay inside the ropes and that nobody drive onto the ice for any reason, including to see how thick it is.
