Orchards on the County Road Open for Picking
Early apples are in; Macouns expected by the end of the month
By Maggie Thorne
The orchards along the county road opened for picking on Saturday, with Paula Reds and Ginger Golds on the near trees and Cortlands coming along behind them.
Picking is by the peck or the half-bushel, and the farm stand has cider by the gallon. The orchard asks that ladders be left where they are found and that pickers keep to the mowed rows.
