Sealer to Make His Autumn Rounds Tuesday

The Sealer of Weights, Measures and Time will make his quarterly examination of the Township's public clocks and commercial scales on Tuesday, Oct. 21, beginning at the Light & Water yard at 8 a.m.

The Diner's counter clock will be checked shortly after, during breakfast; patrons are asked to make room for one stepladder for about five minutes. The Meeting House tower bell will not strike between 9 and 10 that morning while the tower clock is examined. Hardware & Feed's platform scale, the General Store's counter scale, the hall clock at the Township Offices, the bell clock at Regional High and the yard scale at the Travel Port are also on the list.

The certificate will be printed in these pages next week, beside the church supper listings, as it is every quarter.

Hardware & Feed Takes In Winter Stock

Two trucks came through the Travel Port on Monday with the winter order for Blackgrove Hardware & Feed: forty tons of rock salt, a load of sand, stove pellets stacked to the rafters of the back shed, and the first seed garlic of the season.

“Same order as last year, give or take the garlic,” said the store's owner, Len Bascombe. “People have gotten serious about garlic.” The store goes to winter hours on Monday, Nov. 3.

Saturday mornings

To the Editor: I have nothing against a leaf fire. I grew up with them. I would only ask my neighbors on the hill road to wait until the afternoon if the wind is coming our way. Some of us hang wash on Saturday mornings. Thank you.
