Sealer Certifies Township's Clocks and Scales
Every instrument on the list passes
By Maggie Thorne
The Sealer of Weights, Measures and Time completed his autumn rounds on Tuesday and found every clock and scale on his list within tolerance, according to the quarterly certificate issued Thursday by the Office of Weights, Measures and Time.
Hardware & Feed's platform scale was tested at every load up to its full thousand pounds and sealed again for the quarter. The General Store's counter scale and the yard scale at the Travel Port were sealed as well.
The tower bell missed its nine and ten o'clock strokes Tuesday morning while the work was done. Several readers called the office about it anyway.
The certificate is printed in full beside the church supper listings. The next examination will be made in January.

Chicken & Biscuit Supper Feeds 142; Pies Run Out at Seven
By Maggie Thorne
Saturday's chicken and biscuit supper at the Meeting House fed 142 people at the tables and sent another thirty-one orders out the side door, by the count of the kitchen committee. Twenty-six pies came in, and the last slice of apple went at seven o'clock.
The committee asks that pie plates be collected from the vestry kitchen by Sunday next.

Gray is fine
To the Editor: I was one of the people who asked Mrs. Ainsworth twice about the gray on the bleachers. Having seen it, I take it back. It looks very well.
